Friends Life : 1000th delegate attends Friends Life pre-retirement seminar

Workplace Savings provider Friends Life has counted its 1000th delegate to attend its free 'pre-retirement' financial education seminars. Facilitated by Life Academy, Friends Life has been now been providing sessions for employers and their employees covering all aspects of retirement for a decade. 

The one day course aims to help delegates within five years of retirement consider the changes that take place at retirement, and how they can be managed, transforming negative attitudes to positive ones. The course covers a diverse range of topics for pre-retirees, including health, finance, work, leisure relationship and self-identity.

Colin Williams, Managing Director Workplace and Intermediated at Friends Life, said:

"We've been running these popular courses for a number of years and are delighted that that our latest session was attended by our 1000th delegate. The course is not about financial planning, but focusses on providing guidance on a wide range of aspects to those about to leave full time employment. Although much of our working lives is spent talking and planning for what we'll do in retirement, when the reality is upon us there is a lot to consider, and it can be daunting. These sessions are about supporting the transition away from full time work and starting dialogues about the issues that will affect people and where they can get support, whether that's budgeting, replacing the social network previously provided by the office or making the most of your talents in your newly acquired spare time."

Members of Friends Life group pension schemes are invited to attend these pre-retirement seminars, and details of the courses are provided via employers. Friends Life also runs a number of financial education seminars every year, other topics include Retirement Planning, and Money Management.
