-- Textron Inc. Analyst Notes On May 1, 2014, Textron Inc. (Textron) released its financial results for Q1 FY 2014 (period ended March 29, 2014). During the quarter, total revenues were reported at $2.8 billion, approximately flat in comparison to Q1 FY 2013. Net income came in at $85 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, versus $119 million, or $0.41 per diluted share in Q1 FY 2013. According to the Textron, the acquisition of Beechcraft reduced Q1 FY 2014 income from continuing operations by $0.05 per share as a result of acquisition, restructuring and applicable interest costs. For FY 2014, Textron expects EPS from continuing operations to be in a range of $1.92 and $2.12. Cash flow from continuing operations of the manufacturing group before pension contributions is expected to be in the range of $600 - $700 million. Net sales for Q1 2014 declined to $342.0 million, from $399.6 million in Q1 2013. The Company stated that its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) product sales increased 23.8% YoY to $157.4 million due to a combination of acquisitions and continued organic growth. However, the residential product sales were $164.0 million, as against $255.2 million in Q1 2013, negatively impacted by colder temperatures and snow cover, which delayed installations and slowed demand for home standby generators. Adjusted net income was $50.7 million or $0.72 per share as compared to $83.9 million or $1.21 per share in Q1 2013. Analysts at Thomson Reuters expected the Company to report EPS of $0.74 for Q1 2014. Generac's stock fell 7.39% from the previous day's close to end at $54.53 on May 1, 2014.
