GMK Noril'skiy nikel' : Copper Plant commences capital refurbishment of sulphur line

In the nearest future, the elementar sulphur production line of the Polar Division Copper Plant stops for annual capital refurbishment.

Elementar sulphur production section in the drying shop of CP is designed for cleaning Vaniukov furnaces sulphuric exhaust gases from heavy non-ferrous metals and dust components. The purified technologic gas serves the base for elementar sulphur. Residual sulphuric compounds are burnt at high temperature. All the year round the technological equipment is being affected by aggressive ambient, higher temperatures and pressure that lead to indispensable capital refurbishment of worn out units.

Within two weeks, the Copper Plant employees and contracting companies are going to replace, repair and restore technological gas-ducts, reactor-generator, boilers-utilizers etc. During the capital refurbishment, Vaniukov furnaces exhaust gases utilization will be carried out at the sulphuric acid production section.

After the repairs, the sulphur production line regains its output, improves security and maintenance safety of the equipment in the inter-repair period, which guarantees maximal productivity of gases utilization sulphur line.
