Norilsk Nickel's Polar Transportation Division (PTD) has received another Liebherr mobile dock crane. The new crane was delivered within the scope of equipment modernization program using the Company's Arctic-class container ship.

Liebherr dock crane truck has a carrying capacity of 40 tons and surpasses comparable equipment manufactured in Russia in terms of additional specifications. PTD previously received other mobile cranes with a different set of features and a carrying capacity of 64 tons.

PTD is based in Dudinka - the world's only seasonally flooded port. Previously operated gantry cranes were using bespoke rail tracks, which required costly annual maintenance and pier repairs after spring floods. New bring considerable savings to the Company associated with reduction in the scope of post-flood pier repairs. In addition, new cranes speed up ship handling, boast good class-wise mobility, are reliable and comply with all applicable international safety standards.
The new crane is currently undergoing preoperational checkups, assembly and servicing procedures overseen by the manufacturer's supervisors.

First imported lifting machines were received by PTD in 2001. Over the years the port received 11 mobile and four gantry cranes manufactured by Liebherr. Equipment supplied by this company has been specially modified to operate in low temperature environment and earned high praise from Norilsk Nickel's specialists.
