Subdivisions of mining and minerals complex of the Polar Division began forming auxiliary mine rescue teams (AMRT). This is done to improve the system of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations on the mines - AMRT will be able to respond efficiently to emergencies immediately on occurrence, before the arrival of professional rescuers. It should be noted that auxiliary mine rescue teams are formed in compliance with the Federal law "On industrial safety of hazardous production facilities".

Now mine rescue services of Polar Division mines are carried out by employees of professional rescue teams of OJSC Industrial Safety, under a contract with the company. However, due to the fact that mining areas are extensive, it takes a lot of time for professional rescuers to arrive on the spot. Availability at workplaces of professionals able to ensure quick and professional evacuation of the remaining employees, first aid and localization of the accident before the arrival of professional rescue teams will significantly reduce the scale and severity of accidents.

Mine rescue teams comprising a total of about 350 people shall be formed from the employees of the Polar Division mines. Their education and training will be based in Norilsk Nickel Corporate University. For operation of AMRT in 2014 it is planned to purchase all necessary mine rescue equipment. Mine rescue teams are to proceed with emergency localization and damage control and mitigation from January 1, 2015.
