Repubblica mobile - new version

The new mobile site of Repubblica.it goes live. A completely new structure, with clearer and lighter graphics which bring to the screen of your mobile devices all the wealth of information of Repubblica.it without making it more difficult to navigate.

To see the new site just go to www.repubblica.it or m.repubblica.it from your phone. In the next few weeks there will be new versions of the apps for iPhone and Android too.

Access to Repubblica.it from mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) now accounts for 30 per cent of the total, with peaks of over 40 per cent at weekends. Huge growth, unprecedented in the history of new technologies. The new site enables this growing mass of readers to access all the information, multimedia and entertainment of Repubblica.it, without missing any content. The launch of the new site also coincides with the start of the FIFA World Cup and it will be possible to follow all the matches live from your phone with all the updates in real time from the correspondents in Brazil.

The decision to create a dedicated site rather than a responsive adaptation of the desktop version was driven by the desire to give readers an optimum product for mobile use: just as rich but faster without useless features that just add weight, and able if necessary to suggest a different news hierarchy for those who connect to Repubblica.it when they are not at their desks.

Even for mobile use, Repubblica.it continues to be completely free of charge. The restyling also includes Repubblica+, the premium section which offers in subscription the best content published in Repubblica, RSera, D, Affari & Finanza and Il Venerd.

With the release of the new mobile site, which comes nine months after the web restyling, Repubblica.it aims to confirm its leadership in online information in Italy. According to the latest Audiweb figures (which still do not consider smartphone and tablet traffic) in April Repubblica.it had1.2 million readers on an average day (+38% compared to the top competitor), 8.5 million readers in the month (+21% compared to the top competitor) with a traffic figure of 300 million page views (+79% compared to the top competitor).
