  • Highlights Harris' 70-year legacy supporting Air Force missions

Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) last night honored the men and women of the U.S. Air Force during a special dinner celebrating the service's 70th birthday.

About 1,000 defense, government and other dignitaries and honorees attended the U.S. Air Force birthday dinner, held in conjunction with the AFA Air, Space and Cyber conference at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

'The Air Force plays a vital role in safeguarding our nation and the world. We are grateful to the dedicated men and women who serve our nation and appreciate their many contributions,' said William M. Brown, Harris chairman, president and CEO. 'Harris has been a proud Air Force mission partner for 70 years and is excited about supporting the service's brave men and women for the next 70 years and beyond.'

A highlight of the evening was a '70 for 70' event - special recognition of 70 serving and retired airmen and civilian service members who broke down barriers and represent the Air Force's spirit of innovation, teamwork and heritage.

The honorees served in a broad range of positions and were selected by the Air Force Association for their distinguished service during the Air Force's 70-year history.

'The leadership, energy and perseverance you each brought to your work is inspiring, and serves as a great example to us all,' Brown said. 'Active and former Air Force members have our deepest gratitude, and we are proud to call many of them Harris employees.'

Harris has supported the Air Force since the service's inception with mission-critical technology - the Berlin Airlift 'Missions of Mercy' radar guidance systems, the introduction of the Minuteman Missile program, electronic warfare for our first B-52s, and avionics onboard today's F-35 fighter. Harris technology has been part of every GPS satellite, provides imaging and ground processing for weather systems and helps support the service's space superiority mission. The company is committed to ensuring the Air Force remains supreme across the air, space and cyber domains.
