Örfirisey back at sea

HB Grandi's freezer trawler Örfirisey is back fishing after a brief call at Tromsø in northern Norway for repairs. The trawler arrived there on Monday after a fault developed in its main engine, while fishing in the Norwegian zone of the Barents Sea.

According to Herbert Guðmundsson at HB Grandi's ship management department, repairs were completed yesterday. The main engine was started and performed perfectly on a test run last night.

´The repairs were carried out by representatives of the engine manufacturer with assistance from an engineering company in Tromsø. The fault turned out to be in the timing gear that manages the timing of the crankshaft and the camshaft. Bearings in two of the intermediate cogwheels failed when a pipe carrying lubricating oil to them failed. Bearings, shafts and cogwheels all needed to be replaced,' Herbert Bjarnason said.

Fish was landed from Örfirisey yesterday and last night, and bunkers were taken for the trip that began this morning.
