25 years of the OTE Telecommunications Museum:

Events for the World Telecommunications Day & the International Museum Day

Athens, May 12th 2015

This year the OTE Telecommunications Museum is celebrating 25 years of operation and on the occasion of the World Telecommunications Day (May 17th) and the International Museum Day (May 18th), it organizes a series of events, from May 15th to May 18th.

Inspired by the theme of this year's International Museum Day 'Museums for a sustainable society', the 4-day events program will include guided tours, visual projects, technological games, and a theater production. More specifically:

'Wind, light, water, wood. A tour of the Telecommunications Museum' (Guided Tour). Learning about nature's elements and their contribution to the development of telecommunications.

Friday 15/05, Monday 18/05 at 18.00-19.30

& Saturday 16/05, Sunday 17/05 at 17.30-19.00

'A different kind of phone meets the world, becomes alive and colorful' (Visual - technological project for children from 8 years old). An industrial phone leaves the storeroom for the very first time and becomes the inspiration for visual creations and technological experimentations.

Saturday 16/05, Sunday 17/05 at 17.15-19.00

& Monday 18/05 at 17.45-19.30

'From the forces of nature to optic fibers' (Museum-educational activity for families with children between 6 and 14 years old). In a space filled with windmills, visitors gaze at the sky with telescopes, experiment with optic fibers, send telegrams and use copies of insulators to 'build' the museum of the future.

'The Internet Farm'(A theater production for school groups). Educational play about safety in surfing online.

Monday 18/05 at 11.00-12.30
