- 4G population coverage exceeded 80%

- 1.9 million households and businesses have access to VDSL up to 50 Mbps

- Mobile broadband speeds up to 375 Mbps

- Growth investments to continue in 2016

Offering upgraded Internet speeds for both fixed-line and mobile telephony, as well as new services, the OTE Group creates today the networks of the future. The Group remains by far the most significant investor in new technologies and infrastructure in Greece with its investments exceeding €2bn for the past 5 years alone.

2015: Continuous development of VDSL, 4G and 4G+ networks

The OTE Group achieved all the targets set at the beginning of the year for New Generation Networks' roll out to provide new services and even greater broadband speeds to even more consumers, excluding the launch of Vectoring for internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, still pending approval by the Regulatory Authority.

With regard to mobile telephony, in 2015 the Group increased its 4G population coverage to 80%, offering even more customers super-fast mobile Internet speeds, retaining its No1 position in population coverage, by far ahead of the competition[1]. At the beginning of 2015, the OTE Group also proceeded with the commercial launch of its 4G+, LTE Advanced, network, thus rendering speeds up to 300Mbps commercially available. Utilizing the increased capabilities of its mobile network following the new spectrum acquisition, the Group also made speeds up to 375 Mbps commercially available, the first provider to do so in Greece and among the first in Europe. Furthermore, close to the end of the year, it was the first provider in Greece and among the first worldwide to demonstrate speeds up to 500Mbps.

In fixed-line telephony, the OTE Group continued replacing its copper network with optic fiber, offering access to VDSL speeds up to 50 Mbps to even more consumers, with the respective population coverage increasing to 40%. About 5,000 cabins are already available for the provision of VDSL services, with more than 3,000 km of optic fiber cables having been installed since 2010. Up to now, more than 1.9 million households and businesses have been given access to speeds up to 50 Mbps. In addition, the capacity of the National Backbone Network has significantly increased, thus ensuring the impeccable management of the constantly increasing volume of data traffic of both domestic and international Internet.

Prospects and goals for 2016

The OTE Group has already announced a €1.3 bn investment plan for the next four years for Greece alone.

In 2016, the Group intends to further increase its 4G/4G+ population coverage, as well as its VDSL coverage. Moreover, it is ready to launch the Vectoring technology for fixed-line Internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, provided it receives permission from the regulatory authorities.

Planned investments also include the gradual network modernization through its transformation into All IP, for the entire range of infrastructure and services. The network's All IP transformation is to be concluded by the end of 2018, aiming to offer top-quality ΙP telephony and high definition (HD) voice, as well as other value-added services.

Within 2016 the OTE Group will launch its Hybrid Internet services (unification of fixed-line and mobile Internet), via the innovative Hybrid Access technology, which the Group demonstrated first in the Greek market.
