PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 5, 2014) - HP Enterprise Services (NYSE: HPQ) today announced it has been awarded a five-year task order worth up to $548 million by the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) to provide maintenance and support for mission-critical hardware and software located around the world.

With this agreement, HP will serve as the prime contractor and provide highly reliable and globally available commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Hardware Support Services as well as Software, Maintenance and Integration Services. To support and sustain mission activities, DMDC must maintain a high operations pace by adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and system capabilities. The organization also has to maintain the ability to meet changing peace and wartime operational demands. HP's services will keep DMDC's technology infrastructure current and well maintained, supporting effective identity management for service members, contractors and civilians.

HP also will oversee the hardware and software -- including servers, PCs, laptops, handhelds, printers, scanners, biometric devices and cameras -- that DMDC uses in daily operations. Software to be supported under this agreement includes the Defense Biometric Identification Systems (DBIDS), Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS), Noncombatant Tracking/Emergency Tracking Accountability System (NT/ETAS) and other systems mission critical to DMDC.

"For our government clients with complex IT environments, it is critical to have strong foundational hardware and software to provide the vital services its citizens need," said Marilyn Crouther, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services. "Over the years, we have demonstrated service delivery excellence that we will apply to help DMDC be able to count on their technology to enable rather than disrupt daily business."

HP has provided applications and IT solutions to DMDC for more than 30 years. Additionally, for more than 45 years, HP has served as a trusted leader in delivering comprehensive, secure and reliable IT solutions in the government sector.
