Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (Switzerland; CEO Franz-Josef Mengede; HZI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plants, has received an order from Ferrybridge MFE 2 Ltd. (FM2), a special purpose company formed by major British energy firm Scottish & Southern Energy PLC (SSE) for the construction of an EfW plant comprising two stoker-type incinerators, each with a processing capacity of 1,015 tons per day (total 2,030 t/day) and a power output of 68,800 kilowatts. The project represents the 9th order for HZI in the United Kingdom, and the processing capacity per unit the largest for the Hitachi Zosen Group.

The EfW project will be run by FM2 at the site of the Ferrybridge power stations owned by SSE in Knottingley, West Yorkshire. HZI was commissioned by FM2 to undertake civil engineering work and construction of the plant in a full turnkey contract. The Ferrybridge site is home to an EfW plant built by HZI and operating smoothly since 2015. HZI's work in this first project won recognition and led to the new order.

Hitachi Zosen aims to secure the global number one position in the environmental business centering on EfW plants, and plans to continue pursuing synergy with group companies including HZI.

The outline of the EfW plant is as follows.
