HITT trading update

Delays at projects weaken the result of HITT in the first quarter of 2012

After good results in 2011, the profitability in the first months of 2012 suffered from delays in the realization of a few projects. Consequently, the relatively expensive hired staff capacity in Apeldoorn could not be reduced as scheduled, which negatively impacted the end result. Due to the economic market conditions and the delays in tender processes the new order intake was somewhat slower. The order pipeline decreased to some extent at the beginning of 2012. Much effort is put in the acquisition of new contracts. The pipeline of potential new orders is increasing again.

The profitability of foreign activities improved. Especially in Asia there was growth of activities and result, and also the sales of software via HITT's Australian partner commenced. The workload in the marine traffic segment is still high, but, partly due to the decrease of order intake and delays at a few projects, there was a small loss in this segment in the first quarter.

The delivery of port management systems showed an upward tendency in the first quarter, and a modest profit was realized. The outlook for these activities for 2012 has improved clearly.

Due to some delays in the carrying out of aviation projects, part of the revenue and profit will be realized later in the year. This was mainly due to delays in completion of civil construction by customers and could not be compensated by new orders.

The revenue and results in the Hydrography segment developed steadily and in line with last year. Especially the sales in North America increased, and the number of users of QINSy and Fledermaus again increased.
