HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HMSY) today announced two key additions to its management team: Joel Portice as Divisional President, Government Solutions and Corporate Strategy, and Douglas M. Williams as Divisional President, Commercial Solutions. Messrs. Portice and Williams will serve on the company's executive team and report to Bill Lucia, President and Chief Executive Officer.

"In the face of an evolving and dynamic healthcare market, we are strengthening our executive bench with the addition of two recognized healthcare leaders, better positioning us to maximize our data analytics capabilities, capitalize on ACA-driven growth and an expanding commercial market, and rapidly seize strategic development opportunities," said Lucia.

Mr. Portice comes to HMS from Verisk Health, a division of Verisk Analytics, where he served as president and was responsible for the overall operations of the company. He was also previously the president and chief executive officer of Intelimedix, a healthcare analytics company that he grew into a multi-million dollar enterprise. Mr. Portice's career is especially notable for his successful entrepreneurial endeavors in the data analytics space. In 2005 he co-founded the healthcare provider information management and data analytics company, Enclarity, Inc., and served as its chief operating officer through 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Dakota and an M.A. from Hamline University.

"Joel is the perfect combination of visionary entrepreneur and seasoned healthcare executive, which will make him a powerful contributor to our growth initiatives. His transformation of Verisk Health speaks volumes about his understanding of the healthcare market and his ability to optimize performance, drive growth, and leverage strategic opportunities," commented Lucia. "Joel's years of experience developing solutions to address continuously changing market needs for healthcare payers and providers will be invaluable to HMS as we focus on new product development. His background in data analytics in particular makes him an excellent partner as we work to leverage our data analytics platform to build innovative products for all our markets."

Mr. Williams brings over 25 years of information technology, sales, and operations experience in healthcare to HMS and has worked extensively with both commercial payers and providers. Most recently, he was the Chief Information Officer of Aveta, which was acquired by Optum Inc. in 2012. Previously Mr. Williams served as senior vice president of the Payer Business Unit at MedeAnalytics, where he was responsible for building the sales team and significantly expanding the company's sales pipeline. He also brings a strong healthcare consulting background to his role at HMS, including serving as a Global Healthcare Partner for IBM, where he was responsible for developing and managing IBM's global healthcare practice. Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University.

"Doug's background blends deep healthcare IT and operational experience with demonstrated expertise in building a strong sales force focused on client service--an attribute we take great pride in at HMS," said Lucia. "The commercial market serves as a significant expansion opportunity for HMS and we are excited to have Doug at the helm of our Commercial Solutions group to accelerate our growth in this space."
