HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home repair service plans, today announced its participation at the 2016 American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE16) from June 20-22 in Chicago, Ill. HomeServe will, for the third consecutive year, serve as sponsor for the Opening General Session, which this year will feature Jim Cantore – on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel, and one of the most recognized personalities in weather. Cantore will also make an appearance at HomeServe’s ACE16 booth (#2300), from 10-10:30 a.m. CT on Monday, June 20, following the Opening General Session.

On Tuesday, June 21 from 3-4:30 p.m. CT, HomeServe will be hosting a technical session, “Reducing Non-revenue Water: Actions to Reduce Real Losses and Improve Customer Satisfaction,” where a panel of experts will discuss how utilities can work towards minimizing their losses from non-revenue water (NRW) and enhance customer satisfaction in the process. The presentation will be under the ACE16 Professional Program “Distribution System Design, Management & Operation” Track, in Room W181c at McCormick Place West.

NRW continues to be a major challenge for water utilities across the nation. The average amount of NRW lost by U.S. utilities is approximately 22 percent – a problem not only in terms of lost revenue, but also lost resources. In a time of major droughts in areas of the U.S. and countries across the world, the conservation of water resources is more critical than ever. HomeServe USA’s presentation will highlight the link between this issue and the nation’s aging infrastructure, present mitigation strategies for utilities and discuss ways to bolster customer awareness and satisfaction in conjunction with combating NRW.

Reducing Non-revenue Water: Actions to Reduce Real Losses and Improve Customer Satisfaction” will be moderated by Myles Meehan, Senior Vice President of Public Relations, HomeServe USA, and feature a panel that includes George Kunkel, Principal, Kunkel Water Efficiency Consulting, Laurent Carrot, Vice President and General Manager, SUEZ Water, Darin Kamradt, Financial Planning Manager, WaterOne and Rich Spafford, Director of Engineering, Merchantville Pennsauken Water Commission. The session will end with a Q&A portion, as the speakers – bringing insights from different perspectives in the industry – help session attendees better understand the challenges of NRW, identify areas of focus to combat the issue and improve customer satisfaction.

“Non-revenue water has left many water providers searching for an efficient solution, as the costs to address the issue often cancel out the savings those remedies offer,” said Tom Rusin, CEO, HomeServe USA. “Our mission at HomeServe remains focused on best serving our customers – and that means also helping our water utility partners identify cost-effective methods to tackle non-revenue water loss, so they can continue to provide high-quality service for homeowners. We look forward to discussing strategies and creating a productive dialogue on the topic with our industry colleagues at ACE16.”
