HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home emergency repair service plans, today announced a new agreement to offer optional plans to West Penn Power customers in Pennsylvania. Customers within West Penn Power’s service area will have the opportunity to obtain protection against the inconvenience and unexpected expense of home repairs. The new program will begin with an offer for the Exterior Electric Line service plan, which customers will receive in the mail over the next few weeks.

The Exterior Electric Line service plan provided by HomeServe offers homeowners protection against repairs to the home’s exterior electrical components that connect to the West Penn Power electric system. This can include repairs to the weatherhead, riser pipe, insulators, meter base and service entrance cable. These repairs can be costly and are not typically covered by basic homeowners insurance. Plan holders will have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed, and insured electricians right to their home for repairs. The plan costs $5.49 a month.

Under the new program, West Penn Power customers will also have access to other repair plans through HomeServe. These include plans covering interior electrical wiring, gas piping, as well as heating, cooling and water heating systems.

“We are pleased to be able to extend HomeServe’s optional plans to West Penn Power customers as a simple and affordable safety net against the expense and stress of urgent home repairs,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “Homeowners can face a great deal of stress when customer-owned electrical wiring is damaged and power can’t be restored, or when the air conditioner suddenly breaks down on the hottest day of the year. Our plans provide convenient, timely repairs and relieve financial burdens when these emergencies occur.”

The offering of HomeServe’s repair plans to West Penn Power customers is an expansion of HomeServe’s existing relationship with FirstEnergy, the parent company of West Penn Power. HomeServe’s plans protect more than 250,000 homeowners in Pennsylvania and Ohio who are customers of FirstEnergy’s utilities – Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison, Met-Ed, Penelec, and Penn Power.

West Penn Power customers will be receiving details about the new program in the mail this month. For more information, contact HomeServe toll-free at 1-888-658-3800 or visit www.homeserveusa.com.
