SEATTLE, Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Restaurant discovery app Urbanspoon today released a list of America's Strictest Restaurants, featuring 35 eateries where chefs pride themselves on the particulars of their menu selections and do not allow customers to request changes or substitutions, order off menu or, in some cases, choose which condiments they want with their meal. Compiled based on user data, reviews, and insider knowledge, the list reveals the restaurants where pickier patrons whims may not be met, from the well known Father's Office in Los Angeles, which doesn't allow any modifications to its mouthwatering burger (including requests for ketchup, which they do not serve), to Atlanta's Bone Garden Cantina, whose "Our Restaurant - Our Rules" policy forbids free samples, returns, a children's menu, special orders, or sitting too long at a table.

Chefs can spend hours on menu prep and sourcing ingredients, and restaurants have many reasons for refusing changes to their carefully crafted menu. For instance, Jackson's Pizza in Seattle says they spend months crafting the recipe for each and every pie, so its understandable they may not want the general public to botch their pizza perfections. The Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House established their rule for quicker execution and to alleviate wait times, while the Red Gravy Cafe in New Orleans wants customers to experience carefully chosen flavors that best complement each other.

Pizzerias and cafes take the cake for the country's most stringent establishments, with six pizza joints and five cafes making their way on to Urbanspoon's list. International cuisines also had a strong showing, with Mexican, German, Cuban, Scandinavian, and Indian restaurants featured on the list as well.
