• Designed to avoid sharp hikes in customer's bills due to summer and winter consumption peaks
  • The Company launches a campaign offering personalised advice to its customers who can now choose their payment day and pay the same amount for their energy consumption each month
  • The combination of the Fixed Rate and the price freeze offered by IBERDROLA on the deregulated market for one or three years allows customers to plan their expenditure and avoid uncertainty in their electricity and gas bills

IBERDROLA has made the decision to offer the personal Fixed Rate to all its customers in Spain, for both customers with an electricity contract and those with a contract for natural gas or other energy products or services.

The Fixed Rate gives the Company's customers the option of paying the same amount each month, and their situation will be adjusted annually based on their actual consumption in all cases.

This adjustment will not incur any penalty for the customers, and may mean a reimbursement if their final energy consumption is lower than initially predicted.

IBERDROLA has launched a campaign offering one-on-one advice so customers -who can even choose which day they pay their electricity or gas bill- can match the amount they pay as closely as possible to their energy consumption habits.

The Company also undertakes to notify customers promptly if they need to modify this amount if it sees that their actual consumption deviates significantly from the consumption estimated at the time the fixed rate was set.

The main goal of this initiative by IBERDROLA is to avoid sharp hikes in customers' bills mainly caused by energy consumption peaks in summer due to the increasing use of air conditioning, and in winter due to heating. In other words, the aim is to enable customers to plan their energy expenditure.

It should also be noted that customers who have opted for the deregulated market -already the majority- also benefit from energy prices that remain frozen for a period of one or three years, as chosen by the customer. They can therefore enjoy twice the peace of mind from both the price certainty and the stability of always paying the same amount thanks to the Fixed Rate.

At the close of the third quarter of 2014, IBERDROLA had 15.2 million contracts in Spain, 2% more than in the same period of the previous year, with an energy supply of 68.128 GWh. Of these contracts, 71% -over 10.8 million- were in the deregulated market, whereas the 29% remaining were in the regulated market (around 4.4 million).

The Company has attained these relevant figures on the merits of a business strategy carefully tailored to the needs of customers, seeking at all times the solution that is best adapted to each customer through products and services that are competitive not only in price but also in excellence of service. This is precisely the spirit which inspires the Fixed Rate initiative.
