Ideagen : Neem Biotech rolls out Ideagen Enlighten

Neem Biotech, a biotechnology company in the life sciences arena, is working with software firm Ideagen to modernise its Quality Management System following a period of significant growth in the business.

As part of the Zaluvida Holdings group of companies, Neem's business revolves around exploring natural molecules with biological activity and developing these into health and wellness solutions that address some of the big healthcare related challenges in today's society.

Based in South Wales, Neem will adopt Ideagen Enlighten, Ideagen's cloud based governance, risk and compliance software, to help the organisation move from its traditional paper-based methods.

As well as modernising the management of quality, Enlighten will also ease Neem's compliance efforts by electronically mirroring quality processes to make it easier to meet the demands of ISO 9001 and GMP+ FSA certification.

Stewart Clark, Quality Manager at Neem Biotech, said: 'Neem Biotech has, for a good many years, carried the ISO 9001 certification for quality management as well as the GMP+ Feed Safety Assurance standard.

'Both of these standards have the typical requirements for quality management. Previously we were a small enough organisation to be able to support certification to those standards by means of traditional paper based systems.

'However, over the past eighteen months we have doubled in size and expanded the horizons of our value proposition offerings. This has taken our current QMS beyond the realms of being comfortable in a paper-based system.'

Ideagen Enlighten will electronically replicate Neem's current document control system, as well as bring with it functionality for internal and external auditing and company-wide risk management.

'Modern businesses need to understand and manage risk, and Enlighten will really help us do that,' explained Stewart. Enlighten is not just a quality management system - it is so much more than that. It is a true governance, risk and compliance system.

'At Neem Biotech it has always been viewed as being essential that there is an element of risk-based control and risk management that is integral to the Quality Management System of our business. With the introduction of the 2015 developments of the ISO 9001 standard, where the concept of risk control and risk management has become a fundamental component, Neem's management has mandated that an appropriate system be found as a matter of priority to ensure that our Quality Management System remains aligned with the ISO 9001 quality standard.

'Enlighten will allow our various quality processes to speak to one another and allow for KPIs to be made clear across the organisation. The fact that it is cloud based made it so much more appealing for us as an organisation.'
