ING Group CEO Ralph Hamers participated in a trade mission on the occasion of the official state visit of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander to Poland.

On Wednesday 25 June 2014, the King attended the innovation seminar 'Solutions for a Common Future' in the National Stadium in Warsaw. Following the seminar a CEO Roundtable was held, where the King met with Polish representatives including deputy prime-minister Piechocinski and a Dutch business delegation including ING CEO Ralph Hamers. The discussion was focused on the investment climate and the relationship between the countries, innovation, energy efficiency, EU finding and the European internal market.

ING has been present in Poland since 1991 and ING Bank Slaski currently is one of the leading banks in Poland with 3.4 million clients and over 8,000 employees. Ralph Hamers gave his take on the economic relationships between Netherlands and Poland in an item on Dutch Radio 1, in Dutch.

Other participation of ING representatives in the events around the Dutch State visit included a trade dinner on 24 June which was attended by Ben van de Vrie, Head of Marketing for Business Clients ING Netherlands Ben van de Vrie and Tjeerd Bosklopper, the CEO of insurance company ING Zycie which is part of NN Group.

On the occasion of the State Visit, ING's economic department released a new economic study: Poland: Leading the CEE pack. Rob Ruhl, Head of Business Economics at ING, concluded: "The excellent economic performance of Poland puts them in the center of the region, making them a regional heavyweight that is playing an important economic role now and in the future. The high growth figure and the acceleration they are seeing in development is very interesting for many companies looking to expand and invest globally."
