Inmarsat invests in careers of future space engineers

04 March 2015: Inmarsat is investing in the careers of future engineers with an exciting new Technology Development Programme, designed to provide newly qualified STEM-based graduates with a platform to develop a career in satellite communications.

The unique graduate scheme confirms Inmarsat's commitment to supporting and enabling the next generation of world-class engineers. It includes a two-year tailored programme of continuous learning and development at Inmarsat, with the continuation of employment within a technology focused team after these two years.   .

Successful applicants will be given an amazing opportunity to contribute to real space engineering programmes and establish themselves alongside some of the leading engineers in the field of satellite communications.

Top-level graduates

Key universities with an acclaimed history of producing top-level graduates in Computer Science, Engineering (Aeronautical, Electrical or Mechanical), Physics, Mathematics or Technology, have been targeted in the UK and Europe.

These include Cambridge University, University College London, Imperial College London, Bristol University, and Southampton University in the UK; Politecnico di Milano and Laspienza in Italy; and Supaero and Supelec in France.

The Technology Development Programme is also open to all qualified graduates with a STEM-based degree, regardless of the university they attended, within the UK or abroad.

Talent pool

Flexible training

The flexible training programme comprises a series of six-month work rotations at Inmarsat based upon the graduate's strengths and interests. Successful applicants will be able to choose to work in a number of specialised teams, including:

  • Space Segment
  • System Architecture
  • Spectrum Engineering
  • Satellite Operations
  • Product and Network Operations

By the end of the programme, they will not only have acquired highly regarded skills and an enriched knowledge base, but also a competitive salaried job with the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications.
