SAN JOSE, Calif., July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackArrow, a leading worldwide provider of advanced advertising solutions for New TV platforms, today announced that Michael Pohl has been named chairman of the company's board of directors.

Pohl, who joined the BlackArrow board in 2011, replaces Larry Kramer, who was recently appointed president and publisher of USA TODAY, as chairman. Kramer will remain a member of the BlackArrow board.

"Michael Pohl has been a leading figure in the pay TV community for over 25 years," said Kramer. "His knowledge of the industry and his experience in helping technology companies successfully navigate the pay TV landscape are unique assets that will help BlackArrow continue to expand into new opportunities in the marketplace."

"Traditional pay TV business models are threatened as consumers and advertisers demand access to live and time-shifted content across a variety of devices," said Pohl. "BlackArrow's proven success with major operators and its industry thought leadership position the company as a key partner for service providers as they define and develop next-generation TV advertising."

A recipient of cable's highest honor, the NCTA Vanguard Award, Pohl has had a substantial and lasting impact on the TV industry. He currently is a member of the board of directors of Ascent Media and was previously chairman of the board of directors of BigBand Networks. Pohl's executive career includes positions as president of the Global Strategies Group at C-COR, as chief executive officer at nCUBE Corporation and as interim vice president and general manager of the On Demand Systems Division at ARRIS -- following the ARRIS acquisition of C-COR.

Pohl is a member of the Cable TV Pioneers and has served on numerous industry committees with CableLabs®, CTAM and the NCTA. Previously, he served as a board member of ACTV, subsequently acquired by OpenTV, and of whole-home networking software provider Ucentric Systems, which was purchased by Motorola.
