Inter RAO YEES : Group commissions generating unit 12 at Verkhny Tagil state district power plant

Inter RAO Group has commissioned a new steam-gas generating unit with the installed capacity of 447 MW at Verkhny Tagil state district power plant (SDPP) in the Sverdlovsk Region. The project is on the List approved by the Russian Government of Generating Objects to be used to supply power under the power supply contracts.

The generating unit will replace the plant's used-up stage 1-4 coal equipment decommissioned in 2016 and early 2017. The new generating unit will improve the reliability and production efficacy of Verkhny Tagil SDPP, and increase its competitiveness on the wholesale electric power market.

The construction project for the twelfth generating unit of Verkhny Tagil SDPP was managed by LLC Inter RAO Engineering, which is part of Inter RAO Group.

The main equipment of the new generating unit comprises a gas turbine and generator from Siemens, a steam turbine with generator from OJSC Siloviye Mashiny and a three-pressure heat-recovery steam generator from the Russian producer JSC EC ZIOMAR.

The new generating unit of Verkhny Tagil SDPP is best in class. It is equipped with a dry nitrogen oxides suppression system in the combustor, which significantly reduces emissions and improves environmental conditions in the region.

'The commissioning of a modern steam-gas generating unit of Verkhny Tagil SDPP is meant to replace the plant's used equipment and ensure reliable power supply to the consumers in the region, including many large enterprises. The technical upgrading of the generating unit is another step taken by Inter RAO towards developing the Group's generating business through introducing innovations and improving power efficiency,' said Boris KOVALCHUK, Chairman of the Board of JSC Inter RAO.
