Interserve Learning & Employment retains its Ofsted 'Good' rating

Praised for building on existing strengths with teaching, learning and assessment described as high quality

National skills and employment services provider Interserve Learning & Employment has retained its 'Good' rating by the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) following a recent inspection. Awarded a Good in all sections of its independent provider report published on 27 October 2017, Interserve was praised for maintaining high standards and high achievement rates throughout the majority of the provision. This was also during a period of considerable change within the organisation and done in 'an atmosphere of strong support and utmost commitment' to its learners and apprentices.

Additionally, the business was commended for ensuring that it met the needs of employers in different localities very well. Extensive knowledge of local and national workforce needs, often identified by Interserve's own innovative and sophisticated analytical tools, were cited as underpinning its comprehensive and insightful labour market solutions. The report goes on to say that the teams responsible for employer and partner engagement, marketing, and curriculum development and delivery work very effectively together.

The Lead Inspector for the visit remarked on the leadership at Interserve in terms of its 'clear vision, one that informs the culture of the organisation and draws on its core values related to the empowerment of learners, pride in achievement, high levels of ambition and a strong ethical framework.'

Of specific note in the report was the prioritisation and effective safeguarding arrangements put in place throughout the organisation. The inspectors observed how the team at Interserve had ensured that safeguarding measures are fit for purpose and action is taken to safeguard learners. Mechanisms for reporting safeguarding incidents are well known throughout the organisation with equally high expectations around safeguarding of their partners, tested by robust due diligence procedures.
Chris Peel, Managing Director of Interserve Learning & Employment said:

'This is a terrific outcome and recognises how learners, employers and our staff have risen to the challenge in a period of considerable change within the sector and retained our Good rating. What is particularly pleasing to see is the acknowledgement of our understanding of local employers and how we're meeting their workforce needs. We have worked hard to develop this knowledge, investing in the skills, resource and analytical tools required to produce the necessary intelligence.
'I'm also pleased to see that the investment and priority we have given to our curriculum offer was recognised in terms of how we pilot new aspects first and ensure that these are done well before extending into new qualifications and types of provision.'
