intu has agreed terms with Primark to expand into a former BHS and extend its intu Merry Hill store by more than 70 per cent as part of the shopping centre's multi-million-pound transformation.

Primark will be the latest major tenant to expand at prime retail destination intu Merry Hill since intu took full ownership of the centre in 2016 and subsequently announced plans to spend more than £100 million refurbishing its malls and building a major leisure extension.

River Island, Topshop and Topman, and JD Sports have also doubled their space and Next will launch one of its biggest stores in the country at intu Merry Hill this year.

Work has now begun on Primark's new store which will have a sales space of 60,000 sq ft.

At 1.7m sq ft, intu Merry Hill is one of the largest shopping centres in he UK and already a major super regional shopping and leisure destination and one, attracting 21 million visitors a year.
