Energy Central announced the winners of the 2013 KITE Awards, which recognize utility executives in information technology, operations and customer service for their leadership in innovation, knowledge, and technology excellence. Among the winners wereItron customersCenterPoint Energy and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). CenterPoint Energy's Division Vice President and CIO Gary Hayes was recognized as CIO of the Year in the large utility category, and SDG&E's President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Niggli was recognized as the Operations Executive of the Year in the large utility category.
The 2013 award winners were announced November 5 at the Knowledge 2013 Utility Executive Summit in Colorado Springs, CO. Other winners include:
- CIO of the Year - Small Utility: Benjamin Beberness, chief information officer (CIO) and assistant general manager of information technology, Snohomish County Public Utility District No. 1
- Operations Executive of the Year - Small Utility: Steve Catanach, light and power manager, City of Fort Collins
- Customer Service Executive of the Year - Large Utility: Robert M. Geneczko, vice president of customer services, PPL Electric Utilities
