Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it is a member of the GEO Consortium selected by the Victorian Government in Australia to design and build a new prison in Melbourne, Australia.

Jacobs is providing security planning and engineering services for Ravenhall, a medium security men’s prison that is expected to significantly improve the State’s prison system capacity.

The project is being delivered as a Public Private Partnership (PPP), with Jacobs providing security planning, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, dry fire, communications and Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) services.

Other members of the GEO Consortium include The GEO Group, Inc., The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd, John Holland, Honeywell and Capella Capital.

The project is expected to be complete in late 2017.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Shirley said, “Ravenhall Prison is a strategic infrastructure project that supports a safer Victoria and that is expected to drive investment in the region. Our extensive experience in designing and building justice facilities has been fundamental to us securing this role, and we look forward to working as part of the consortium to deliver the new facility.”
