CellAdvisor, P5000i fiber inspection scope, and StrataSync® combine to advance RF testing
November 19, 2013 - LTE has significantly changed the cell-site landscape requiring RF engineers to install and maintain fiber, making their jobs more complex. JDSU has now proactively implemented this capability into its industry-leading CellAdvisor JD720C, the first and only portable cloud-enabled solution that tests both RF coax and fiber cables.
Key Benefits
Unique fiber inspection and optical power measurements: Engineers now can quickly perform all the traditional RF cell-site tests, including the necessary "Inspect Before You Connect" (IBYC) tests and power measurements, on sites with fiber links. Leveraging the JDSU P5000i Fiber Microscope ensures all fiber connections are clean and power levels are verified with the MP-60/80 optical power meter to turn up cell sites and get them running faster.
Comprehensive RF analysis: Engineers can conduct all necessary measurements to characterize cell-site RF cables and antennas with dual screen and measurement zoom modes to make two measurements simultaneously, or to zoom in on three areas of the waveform for analysis, significantly reducing test time.
Cloud-enabled management and analysis: JDSU StrataSync cloud integration lets you remotely track your inventory, perform upgrades, store and share trace and configuration files, and secures and makes your data available for analysis via complimentary JDSU Viewer software.
Use Case
Unlike other solutions, the JDSU JD720C CellAdvisor uniquely certifies both RF and fiber connections with less equipment, cost, and time in the field. Being fiber-enabled means you can measure optical power levels faster and, if necessary, check for contamination using the integrated P5000i microscope. Receiving a "PASS" certification lets you move on to the next cell site, eliminating the need to perform additional time-consuming tests. Once tests are complete, upload the results to the StrataSync cloud to share the results with others in your organization who can instantly view them-all from a single, lightweight instrument.
JDSU CellAdvisor solutions also include base station analyzers, RF analyzers, and signal analyzers with LTE-Advanced capability for use in installing and maintaining modern wireless communication systems. The CellAdvisor product family is part of the JDSU Mobility portfolio; for more information, visit our market page.
