Jersey Electricity's Powerhouse and Building Services Division JEBS are delighted to have been able to support the Jersey Construction Council's (JECC) Brick Foundation 2017 Construction Week charity project, the Centre Point Trust Play Care Centre kitchens refurbishment.

Centre Point Trust provides child care and opportunities for growth, learning and development through all aspects of play for children aged two to 15 years. But the three kitchens at the Trust's La Pouquelaye headquarters had seen better days. When the JECC appealed to local businesses for help as part of the Council's annual Brick Foundation project, Normans, Pentagon and Romerils responded by donating a full kitchen each, the Powerhouse donated all the electrical appliances and JEBS carried out the electrical and plumbing installations.

The Council's Andy Fleet, whose company Bridgewater Project Management managed the project, said: 'This has become the norm for our industry in support of our charity; when the call goes out, we receive an amazingly generous response.'

Ian Whyte, JEBS Contracts and Operations Manager said: 'Our team is very busy at the moment but is a pleasure to be able to offer our services to the Construction Council's Brick Foundation in this very worthwhile cause. Powerhouse Sales and Marketing Manager Gavin Murphy said: 'It was quite a shopping list but we managed to get it all together in the short time the project had to be completed in.'

The kitchens were officially opened today by Channel TV presenter Sophia Bird. Steve Jewell, Chairman of the Brick Foundation, said this was the tenth Brick Foundation charity project and with around £27k of work being undertaken it was yet another measure of what the construction industry put back into the community and he thanked everyone involved for their time and support.

Centre Point's CEO Jane Moy said: 'What Jersey's construction industry has done for us is amazing; it will make a real difference to the team here and, most importantly, the children. I can't thank everyone enough.'
