Students at Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (CODCA), an accredited, full-time online public school program, will begin the 2017-18 school year on Aug. 21. CODCA is the only online, Colorado Department of Education-approved Career Technical Education (CTE) program in the state and teaches students statewide in grades 9-12 career and employment skills while they are still in high school.

CODCA offers CTE courses in the fields of health sciences, business, marketing, agriculture, programming, STEM and web design, providing students the opportunity to explore career fields both in and out of the classroom. CODCA is the first online school in the state to receive the top level of approval from the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) for the business, marketing, health sciences and programming pathways.

Students at CODCA prepare to earn technical credentials and may earn college credits and gain workplace experience while still in high school. Other learning opportunities include interview preparation, team collaboration and effective communication. Graduates from CODCA are well prepared to enter a two- or four-year college or the workforce.

“With access to college and career training, our students are equipped with job-ready skills to put to immediate use after high school,” said Teri Cady, head of school at Destinations Career Academy of Colorado. “They are pioneering their career goals by obtaining skills that are critical to climb the career ladders they’ve selected. We truly offer a unique and meaningful program for all students in the state, full of rich academic courses, as well as a robust CTE program.”

At CODCA, state-certified teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, interacting with students and families via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face meetings. This ensures that students and their families feel supported yet challenged in their education in a way that may be different for every student.
