Students and teachers at South Carolina Virtual Charter School (SCVCS) will start the 2017-18 school year on Aug. 17th. Tuition-free and open for South Carolina students in grades K-12, SCVCS provides a personalized approach to learning.

SCVCS offers a rigorous curriculum through live online classes and in-person engagement opportunities. South Carolina-licensed teachers lead web-based classes in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, and history, as well as a wide array of electives. World languages are offered beginning in third grade, and a robust Advanced Learner Program, with honors and AP® courses, is available at the high school level.

“SCVCS gives families an exciting option for their student’s education and a chance to learn in ways that are right for them,” says Head of School Cherry Daniel.

SCVCS’s College and Career Guidance Model helps students navigate their courses with an eye on graduation and beyond. Dedicated counselors guide students through a broad range of courses that will prepare them for the career of their choice after earning a high school diploma. Students can also earn both high school and college credits through dual enrollment at participating colleges and universities.

In addition to their online classes, students have access to resources such as books and materials for experiments and projects. Students go on field trips to museums, industrial facilities and aquariums. Outside of class time, they participate in extracurricular clubs and social gatherings that connect them to the SCVCS community throughout the year, including National Honors Society, Beta Club, culinary arts, Writer’s Roundtable and more.
