On September the 19th KT(CEO Hwang Chang-Gyu www.kt.com) announced that from September 20th to September 22nd, at Kintex in Goyang city, Kyeong-gi province they would be hosting the Smart City Innovation Summit Asia. At the summit their will be exhibits showing new smart city models which focus on using IoT and Big Data technologies.

At this event, in addition to Smart City model projects, KT would be showing off location based Online to Offline marketing strategies, GiGA geo fencing, and various Internet of Small Things (IoST) technologies. One of the new things they developed was a Big Data Site Seeing platform, which enables people passing through an area to easily find local festivals and events. Another platform which KT will be demonstrating in the new Safe Mate platform designed to help alleviate city safey problems.

KT's Smart City platform will be shown off at the convention. It improves safety, convenience and comfort by providing fine dust and air quality monitors, natural disaster safety information, and GiGA IoT health. KT's flagship IoT project is its IoT Makers, which can be used for managing publicly shared bycicles.

Another of KT's Smart City projects which is currently in the planning and development stage, is for managing (in person) service counters and it allows those who consult it to immediately find a response to their queries. This project was mainly developed with municipal governments and various businesses in mind.

Kim Jun-geun, KT GiGA IoT's business lead said "We are continuously developing new products for our Smart City category, which use location information and 'small internet' in the technology implementations. We continue to expand our offerings in the Smart City category, in hopes of providing better service in the areas of tourism platforms and big data usage for our taget customers of municipal governments.

Internet of Small Things, is about all objects being able to send and receive data from the internet. IoST objects do not necessarily need a high cost, fast speed network or a constant power supply. In order to send the small quantities of data, only a battery with low power output is needed.
