For four days, from October 18th through to October 21st, at Global Sources Mobile Electronics Show 2016 in the Asia World-Expo in Hong Kong, KT(CEO Hwang Chang-Gyu, www.kt.com) and the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation(Center Director Im Deok-nae) helped promote 10 K-Champ companies(companies supported by the Gyeonggi Center).

KT and the Gyeonggi Center created a K-Champ Special Exhibition Hall at the expo. The ten participating companies were provided with their own exhibition booth, and given interpreter support for their participation in the expo and given assistance in activity promoting their products.

The national K-Champ program acts as an expansion abroad hub, through which KT and the Gyeonggi Center helped the companies participate in Global Sources 2016, where they were able to speak to potential investors and clients, thanks to the support of the program. Various local(Hong Kong) investor meetings were also arranged through the KOTRA- Hong Kong Trade Association for the K-Champ companies.

At the conference, B2B outsourcing and trade facilitation company Global Sources, arranged meetings with global buyers for the K-Champ companies. The products from the K-Champ companies were seen by 50 perspective purchasing companies from 27 countries, alongside 20,000 products. 3.2 billion won (2.81 million USD) worth of pre-order inquiries were received by the companies, demonstrating the potential of the companies.

One K-Champ company, Geo I.T., talked with the Chinese sports good company, PURE, at the event. They signed a memorandum of understanding to create a joint corporation. They also concluded a contract to use a distribution network for joint sales. The event was a great opportunity for participating companies to gain experience entering foreign markets.

12 of the companies in attendance were allowed to participate in the final round of DEMO IR events. Four of the K-champ companies Amadas, Bagle Labs, Attocube and Try It were selected to compete in the event. The winning company receives its own private booth at next year's expo, as well as increased exposure to Hong Kong's Venture Capitalists.

KT's Creative Economy Development Team, leader Kim Yeong-myeong said "We provide K-Champ companies and their award winning products with the opportunities to enter foreign markets, by introducing them to foreign buyers at trade shows. We intend to continue supporting promising domestic startups, by helping them enter overseas markets and providing tangible value to the companies."
