Development partners LandCorp and Lend Lease today announced the launch of the sought after redevelopment project named The Playground, located on the former North Lake Primary School site in Coolbellup.

The 4.16 hectare site is named The Playground as a reminder of the school history and is reflective of the community play spaces that will be incorporated into the public open space. With hundreds of people already registered to find out more, the development is expected to sell out quickly.

The Playground consists of 54 lots that range from approximately 275m2 to 448m2 and will provide a diverse housing and land opportunity.

Potential purchasers can register their interest for sales from today. Land will be released by an electronic random selection process, with the first release anticipated in early April 2014.

Lend Lease General Manager of Communities in WA, Anthony Rowbottam, said the design of The Playground was for the young, and young at heart.

"The Playground will become a vibrant new place that has links to the significant history of the former North Lake Primary School and will seamlessly blend into the existing Coolbellup community," Mr Rowbottam said.

"The name of the development is inspired by the children's playground that was central to the former North Lake Primary School. The Playground will deliver amazing play and exercise spaces, facilities and parks, delivered through the evolution of the site."

Previous demand for The Primary, the successful former Coolbellup Primary School redevelopment by LandCorp and Lend Lease, indicates sales will be just as sought-after at The Playground.

LandCorp's General Manager Metropolitan Luke Willcock said there was strong demand for land in Coolbellup with houses selling quickly.

"We expect significant demand for the land at The Playground following sales at The Primary. An electronic random selection process is the fairest method to ensure all interested purchasers have the same chance of buying in this popular area," Mr Willcock said.

The Playground has a strong focus on life outdoors and based on community feedback, will include features such as a fitness trail incorporating exercise equipment through the public open space. A walkway winding through the undergrowth of Ficus trees and a mixture of nature and traditional play areas for children of all ages are just some of the features that are planned.

"We are delivering an innovative product that will offer a range of high quality homes to meet many different lifestyles and budgets," Mr Willcock said.

"The Playground will showcase innovation in planning and design by developing new homes and amenities in harmony with an established suburb, just as we successfully did at The Primary."
