European innovation with Lenzing fibers

Eurocel™ is a totally European product. The cellulose fibers being used are manufactured by Lenzing in Austria in an environmentally compatible manner. Eurocel™ is based on the underlying idea of offering a high-quality European product to consumers. Lenzing found a partner in the nonwovens producer Sandler (Germany), which took up the idea of Eurocel™ and developed a new product for its customers.

The products of the Lenzing Group, namely man-made cellulose fibers, are based on the renewable raw material wood. Sustainable business management at Lenzing is the natural consequence of its raw material basis and is consistently applied on all levels throughout the entire Group. The Eurocel™ concept comprises the optimal implementation of the Group's business strategy.

Lenzing also focuses on sustainable cooperation in selecting its partners. "Sandler is a longstanding customer and partner of Lenzing. As with Lenzing, sustainability and quality have always been of the utmost importance to Sandler. Our new fiber concept quickly met with its approval, and thus we found an ideal partner with whom to jointly implement the project", states Elisabeth Stanger, Global Director Business Development Hygiene.

"We are known for speedily putting ideas into practice. In this case we immediately realized the potential of Eurocel™ for the European market", explains Ulrich Hornfeck, Member of the Management Board of Sandler AG and Director of Sales and Marketing. A particularly skin-friendly wipe has now been developed thanks to the environmentally compatible and high quality production of the fiber material in Lenzing combined with the innovative strength of the nonwovens manufacturer Sandler.

The future is Europe

The advantages of Eurocel™ not only fit in well with the strategy of the German nonwovens producer Sandler. "Sustainability is a very important issue at Lenzing, and is very closely linked to regionality. It is a fact that regional production shortens transport distances and thus reduces the carbon footprint. In addition, logistics are optimized. Shorter distances also lead to greater reliability in the supply chain", Elisabeth Stanger explains. "The goal of the Eurocel™ concept is to offer sustainable, high-quality baby wipes. In particular, it also comprises an EU concept due to the fact that the entire industrial production is carried out on a regional basis. We are confident that retail chain stores with a regional focus will also be interested in products from a regional supply chain", Elisabeth Stanger adds.

Eurocel™ can be certified with the raw material certification label PEFC, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, European Ecolabel, Compostable (DIN CERTCO), Vinçotte OK compost HOME, Vinçotte OK compost, Vinçotte OK bio-degradable SOIL, Medically tested / ITV Denkendorf, US BPI compostable certificate and Food Contact Compliance Certification.

Sandler AG

Sandler AG is a 135-year-old family-owned company with annual revenues of EUR 274 mn. The company has an output of 99,800 tons of nonwoven materials for use in hygienic applications, wipes, automobile, filtration, technical equipment and home textiles. 600 people were employed by Sandler AG in 2013.
