Madrid, April the 1st 2014-.  The City Council of Meco, one of the main municipalities in the Northeast of Province of Madrid- very close to Alcala de Henares and just 39 kilometers away from the capital- counts on a new municipal WiFi service provided by GOWEX (GOW-MAB, NYSE Alternext ALGOW, LGWXY-OTC Market), a leading company in creating Wireless Smart Cities®.

Locals and visitors can already enjoy a free and 24/7 available wireless Internet access in some of the major town's public spaces: Constitution Square, Plaza de Nueva Castilla, at the Lavadero and Verdoso parks, and the Sports City Centre.

How to connect to the network

Users accessing to the wireless connection service for the first time will just have to be close to the hotspot and detect the network .FREEWIFIGOWEX with their mobile devices (smartphone, Tablet, Laptop, etc.). The connection speed is 512 kbps for the free service and, additionally, users can buy a Premium rate which allows to surf with a higher speed (up to 3 Mb).

Once they are connected to the Internet with the common browser, the system will redirected them to a page with geo-localised contents, where they will need to register. After they have created a profile with a username, they will receive a password via email and SMS to freely browse in Meco WiFi network, in over 80 free WiFi GOWEX networks located in Spain (Madrid, Burgos, Sevilla, Málaga, Orense, Bilbao, etc) and all around the world (New York, San Francisco, Dublin, Paris, etc.).
