Logica, a leading business and technology service company, today announced that it has won two prestigious National ICT Awards for 2011 from the Dutch ICT industry board. Logica has been awarded with the ICT Office Innovation Award and the ICT Environmental Award for its innovative, smart and sustainable solutions.

Logica won the ICT Office Innovation Award for its pioneering charging solution for electric vehicles. Together with Microsoft, Logica also won the ICT Environment Award for the public space smart management solution for energy and cost saving in areas including street lighting. The National Awards highlight innovative ICT initiatives and encourage better and smarter use of ICT in business, non-profit and public sectors. Importantly, the awards showcase Logica’s Business Consulting growing expertise and collaborative approach to delivering Cloud solutions with Microsoft.

Melba Foggo, International Practice Leader for Sustainability Services said: “We are delighted to have won these prestigious awards. They demonstrate the environmental and business benefits that we are bringing to our clients and wider society.”

The ICT Office Innovation Award recognises Logica’s significant contribution to the research and development of electric car charging in the Netherlands. The Logica Charge Point Interactive Management System (CIMS) received many accolades from the jury for its open standards and open communications protocol. This system, developed with e-laad, provides easy, quick and national access for electric car owners to charging stations.

Both Logica and Microsoft together won the ICT Office Environment Award for the public space smart control and management system called Intergraal Beheer Publieke Ruimte (IBOR). IBOR helps to achieve energy as well as cost savings in areas like street lighting. It is delivered through the cloud for flexibility and lower costs. The jury concluded that IBOR links social relevance with visible energy savings and highlighted that the solution can help municipalities, institutions, industrial clients and consumers.
