(NASDAQ: LPLA), today announced that Sara Nomellini, senior vice president of corporate real estate, is a recipient of the 2015 Women in Business Awards presented by the Charlotte Business Journal. The awards recognize outstanding business women from the Charlotte region who have made significant contributions to their professions and to their communities during the past year. Winners were honored at an awards dinner on June 22, and will be profiled in the June 26 issue of the Charlotte Business Journal.

Charged with creating a new regional headquarters for LPL's more than 1,000 Charlotte-based employees, Nomellini seized the opportunity to create a workplace that could drive both employee productivity and support employee wellbeing. She advocated for a sustainable, employee-centric design that is intended to honor the natural environment, be an engaging and inspiring workplace and become a source of pride for LPL, employees and the community. She has championed improved regional infrastructure, and her project leadership has contributed to the efforts to improve the economic development of the region while also introducing innovative ideas about office design to the Carolinas.

In 2014, Nomellini also led the completion of a LEED Platinum-certified office building for LPL's 1,600 San Diego-based employees and launched LPL's corporate Sustainability Champions program, made up of employee volunteers in a grassroots effort to create and perpetuate a sustainable culture at LPL.

Nomellini has more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry. She has a bachelor of arts from Yale University and a master of architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Nomellini is a registered architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and holds the CoreNet Global MCR designation.
