Innovating Surgery by Alcindo Silva to Treat Knee Injury Divulged at International Level

An innovating surgical technique developed by Alcindo Silva, orthopaedist at Hospital da Luz Arrábida, has just been published in a major world divulgation platform of surgical procedures.

The platform is VuMedi and the initiative of publication came from Zimmer Biomet, a multinational company of products and treatments in the area of musculoskeletal health.

The technique involved concerns the reconstruction of knee anterior cruciate ligament, a most common problem among football players, for instance.
Among the many advantages of this technique developed by Alcindo Silva, specialist in knee injuries, are worth noting the use of one single hamstring tendon (posterior thigh muscles) and button fixation. This allows higher solidity in fixation and reduction of the risk of residual laxity.
