Ardbeg has announced plans to expand its historic distillery to meet rising demand from the ever-growing fan base of the famed Islay single malt. Work to regenerate a site at the heart of the Distillery will be completed in 2019, enabling Ardbeg to produce 2.4 million liters of whisky annually.
Ardbeg has unveiled a project to renovate one of its sites. This project will double production capacity, increasing the number of stills from two to four while continuing to craft whisky using the same artisanal methods.
The multiple award-winning single malt produced by Ardbeg is a favorite among whisky lovers around the world and enjoys continuing growth in demand, due in large part to a loyal following of passionate fans and ambassadors of the whisky who make up the 'Ardbeg Committee'. Created in 2000, the Ardbeg Committee counts more than 100,000 members in 140 countries,
'Ardbeg has been distilled on Islay since 1815 and, with a new still house, we will pave the way for future generations of smoky malt whisky lovers to discover The Ultimate Islay Malt,' says Marc Hoellinger, President and CEO of The Glenmorangie Company.
With the new site, which is expected to be completed in 2019, Ardbeg will carry on the artisanal production of the renowned peaty and smoky single malt whisky that began 200 years ago.
