PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works ('MMK') has been recognised as Russia's best employer by US magazine Forbes, which published its first-ever rating of the most attractive companies to work for on 10 October.

MMK was the highest-ranked of four Russian companies included in Forbes's list of the 500 World's Best Employers, in 214th place.

The rating was compiled based on the annual Forbes Global 2000 list of the world's largest companies, and took into account factors such as company image, working conditions and diversity.

'Employees were asked to rate their own employer and the likelihood they would recommend the company to a friend or family member. They were also asked to recommend other employers they admired,' Forbes wrote.

More than 36,000 global recommendations were then analysed by Statista, the German business analytics and market research portal.

'Maintaining its position as a leading global steelmaker and delivering impressive operational results MMK views social responsibility as a key priority,' MMK CEO Pavel Shilyaev said. 'Investing in social programmes and in the quality of life of our employees and their families, and support for retired former workers all help contribute to the overall growth of the company and our common future.'

In the first six months of 2017 MMK put more than RUB 670 million towards social programmes and charitable projects, an increase of 14% year-on-year.
