Melia Hotels International : Meliá Hotels International successful once again at the European Hospitality Awards

Meliá Hotels International received three awards at the European Hospitality Awards yesterday. The event is one of the most well established events in the European hospitality calendar, and recognizes the best hotels and most innovative services in the industry. The jury decided to reward the excellent work done on the conversion of the Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques Hotel in Madrid by naming it 'Opening of the Year in Europe'. The resort hotel brand Sol House also received two awards for innovation in customer service and for the pioneering use of technology to improve the guest experience.

The Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques Hotel in the heart of old Madrid is the result of the restoration of two outstanding 19th century buildings: the convent of Santo Domingo and the palace of the Dukes of Granada de Ega y Villahermosa. Since opening in 2016, the hotel has become a benchmark for luxury hotels in the Spanish capital, and has achieved awards such as 'Best Hotel in Europe' at the International Hotel Awards and 'Best Interior Design' at the IED Design Awards. It was also selected as one of the best sustainable rehabilitation projects in the Rethink Hotel Awards, and is also a member of the exclusive collection of Leading Hotels of the World.

Sol House is one of the four different vacation concepts operated under the Sol by Meliá brand, and has received the award for 'Best Use of Technology' for its use of social networks as part of the guest experience. Sol House hotels cater to Millennials, and have created a virtual community through which guests and employees can interact. Sol House also received the 'Best Service Innovation' award for its modern attributes and refreshing, social and vibrant brand experience, in which music and entertainment play a key role for the younger travellers attracted by the brand.
