ADVISORY, Jan. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

What:

Representatives from the NFL will visit the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square as part of Nasdaq’s 4th annual “Fit Week.” The week runs from January 2-8 and includes bell ceremonies featuring companies that help Americans lead healthier lifestyles. The NFL has championed the importance of being active and healthy through its PLAY 60 initiative, a national youth health and fitness campaign focused on increasing the wellness of young fans by encouraging them to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.

The NFL also supports a number of youth initiatives that encourage healthy play, including USA Football’s Heads Up Football program which emphasizes a safer and smarter way to play and teach youth football.  Funded in part by the NFL Foundation, Heads Up Football is designed to change the culture around America’s favorite sport and enhance player safety at the youth level.

In honor of the occasion, former New York Giants player and newly appointed NFL Director of Youth & High School Football, Roman Oben, will ring the Closing Bell along with football players from the New York City Public School Athletic League’s Heads Up Football program.

In addition to ringing the Opening or Closing Bell during "Fit Week", participating companies will be featured on Nasdaq's Facebook and Twitter pages where they will provide customized tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle in 2015.
