Hosted by Platts, a leading global energy and commodities information provider, the annual recognition program honors exemplary achievement in strategic vision, industry leadership, stewardship and innovative technologies. National Grid's robust program that educates customers on how to reduce their bills through energy efficiency is a driving factor behind the recognition. Platts cited National Grid's integrated approach to customer messaging, as well as its analysis of community-wide energy consumption trends to implement strategic awareness. Platts commended the company for ongoing initiatives to upgrade equipment, reduce emissions and improve safety and network efficiency. Nominations to the program numbered approximately 250 from three dozen countries. At the Platts Global Energy Outlook Forum "Transition & Transformation," which preceded the Platts Global Energy Awards, Platts took the opportunity to recognize the 2014 Finalists in two Awards categories - "Deal of the Year" and "Industry Leadership - Midstream" - with a special Platts Award of Excellence. It was noted that these two Awards categories, in particular, underpin the Forum's "Transition & Transformation" theme.
