As healthcare providers, our paramount goal is always the health of our patients. With our population ages increasing in the United States and around the world, that means developing an ever-expanding range of services and new ways to deliver them to meet needs not even envisioned just a few years ago.

Today, we're seeing more age-related diseases, including many forms of dementia. Increasing life expectancies have produced new needs and have made us change the way we think about senior care. The results? More partnerships with acute care hospitals, which increase the value of the continuum of care, especially benefitting patients, physicians and hospitals themselves...

National HealthCare Corporation (NHC) is principally engaged in the operation of skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, homecare and hospice agencies, and behavioral health hospitals. Its business activities include providing sub-acute and post-acute skilled nursing care, intermediate nursing care, rehabilitative care, memory and Alzheimer's care, senior living services, home health care services, hospice services, and behavioral health services. In addition, it provides management services, accounting and financial services, as well as insurance services to third party operators of health care facilities. It also owns the real estate of 10 healthcare properties and lease these properties to third party operators. It operates through two segments: inpatient services, which includes the operation of skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living facilities and behavioral health hospitals, and homecare and hospice services.
