Africa is a continent of opportunity for those with the right mindset, according to Nestlé Paul Bulcke.
Speaking at the annual Consumer Goods Forum Business Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, Bulcke said the long-term success of the company was based on creating a sustainable business, with deep links to local society.
'Africa is the place where to be successful, we need to know how to combine business value with social value.' he said 'The Consumer Goods Forum vision, 'Better Lives through Better Business', reflects this dual value creation'
Bulcke's presentation highlighted the ways Nestlé leads sustainable business with value creation in Africa, focusing on nutrition, rural development and sustainable sourcing through its Creating Shared Value agenda.
Through the Consumer Goods Forum, Nestlé last year committed to halving food waste across its operations by 2025, in support of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production.
