Statement regarding the appointment of
Nissan employee Keiko Tanaka as Japan's Ambassador to Uruguay

Statement by Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn:

I am pleased to congratulate Ms. Keiko Tanaka on her appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uruguay which was endorsed by the Cabinet. As a Nissan employee for 30 years, Ms. Tanaka has been a strong member of our leadership team. We are proud that she is the first female from a private company to be selected for this important diplomatic post.

I also applaud the steps taken by the government of Japan to open more doors of opportunity for talented female leaders. Nissan shares a strong commitment to diversity and to nurturing and utilizing the skills of our female employees. We expect many talented women to play significant leadership roles in many fields. I wish skills and expertise Ms. Tanaka developed at Nissan and JATCO will serve her well as she begins her Ambassadorship.
