NVIDIA's shares declined 1.87 percent to close at $95.49 a share on Thursday. The stock traded between $95.49 and $97.21 on volume of 12.67 million shares traded. The company has been trending lower since April 3rd when it closed at $108.38 a share. Earlier this month, Pacific Crest analyst Michael McConnell lowered the company's rating to "underweight" from "sector weight". The analyst has expressed concerns with "signs of desktop [graphics processing unit] market saturation, lower margins from incremental Nintendo Switch revenue and a possible pause in the company's datacenter business this summer."

Advanced Micro Devices shares declined 3.53 percent to close at $12.31 a share on Thursday. The stock traded between $12.22 and $12.72 on volume of 53.44 million shares traded. Similar to its rival NVIDIA, the company has been trending lower since April 3rd when it closed at $14.64 a share. Goldman Sachs has recently initiated coverage on the company with a "sell" rating due to valuation concerns and competition from NVIDIA and Intel Corp.

"We see two potential pitfalls to the company's long-term financial targets," said Goldman Sachs analyst Toshiya Hari. "If AMD were to gain meaningful traction with its new products in 2017, we believe Intel and Nvidia would be likely to fight back in late-2017 and/or 2018 in the form of pricing concessions."
