Mark Simmonds MP and African Diplomats Visit OpSec Security

OpSec Security were delighted to host the British government's Minister for Africa Mark Simmonds MP and the High Commissioner for the Republic of Mozambique, HE Carlos dos Santos to the company's European headquarters in Washington, UK.

The guests were joined along with a delegation of African diplomats from countries including Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania.

The visit allowed Mr Simmonds and Mr Dos Santos to gain a first-hand update on OpSec's government protection projects in Africa and specifically to learn more about the Mozambique tax stamp project.

OpSec recently signed a 15 year concession contract with the Mozambique Revenue Authority that will see the company provide a complete tax stamp solution, protecting excise revenues from all applicable tobacco and alcohol products sold in the country.

Mr Simmonds and Mr Dos Santos were given a tour of the Washington plant, which produces over 100 million metres of holographic security images each year to protect banknotes, excise stamps, government issued documents as well as luxury brands.

Tim Davies, President of OpSec's Government Protection Group provided and overview of OpSec's recent projects in Africa as well as highlighting some of the challenges and opportunities facing UK companies working in the region.

Mr Davies was also keen to thank the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for their continued assistance in Africa, commenting, "The support received from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, especially with regards to our project in Mozambique has been exceptional.

The level of guidance, advice and local knowledge we have received has been invaluable and we were delighted to have the opportunity to highlight the progress that has been made so far.

We were also delighted to be given the opportunity to open dialogue with other African governments who could benefit from OpSec's expertise."
