Owens Corning announced today an expansion of its successful partnership with Habitat for Humanity to install roofs on the homes of military veterans nationwide as part of the Roof Deployment Project.

The Roof Deployment Project was established in 2016 by Owens Corning Roofing and its Platinum Contractors to identify, honor and help protect veterans by installing new roofs. Through last year’s project, Owens Corning installed 23 roofs for military families across 14 states.

“Watching communities rally around an active military or veterans’ family who needed a new roof was very special,” said Jason Lewinski, the contractor network leader for Owens Corning Roofing. “We and our Platinum Contractors are excited to work with Habitat for Humanity to serve a distinct need across the country.”

For the veterans and their families who make sacrifices for others’ freedom, Owens Corning Roofing and its network of independent Platinum Contractors, along with support from the Owens Corning Foundation, will donate roofing materials and labor to Habitat. The company expects to build on last year’s results and install even more new roofs on veterans’ homes in 2017.

Owens Corning is in the final year of its second three-year, $1 million partnership with Habitat. Owens Corning and Habitat have partnered to help build or repair homes to help families around the world build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

“The Roof Deployment Project aligns well with our desire to serve the military veteran community,” said David Gilkeson, director of Veteran’s Build, Habitat for Humanity International. “We are grateful to Owens Corning for creating a program that will help veterans and their families have a safe and decent place to live.”

Owens Corning’s network of independent Roofing Platinum Contractors meet strict standards for professionalism, business stability and customer service.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia.
